Stepping Forward (Wilmington, NC / Burn)

Things have been moving forward with the Burn meetings. There has just been a steady forward pace in the Spirit. I love to feel the hunger and the desperation, it drives me to focus on Him with all I can give.

Tomorrow I am meeting the Global River Church leadership in order to present the Burn meetings and the heart of the gatherings.

Over the last several days I’ve been feeling the weight of obedience. Sometimes it feels daunting when I imagine all the details in organizing these city wide meetings. We want them to draw many different bodies together in worship and prayer while (hopefully) keeping a high level of unity in the corporate body. But then at other times it feels so simple, so straight forward, so welcoming. Cultivating the presence of God through night and day prayer that contends for a habitation of His glory is a pretty awesome pursuit, one that I am forever grateful for.

On top of these more intense burn nights we are setting up several devotional prayer sets to go on during the week. Starting with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at noon, we’ll have a sole worship leader contending for the presence of God in Wilmington’s shopping mall. (The meetings will be held at the new Life Community Church building @ Independence Mall). It’s pretty weird, come to think of it, how the Lord opened up a huge store front, in Wilmington’s only large shopping mall, giving a local community church 24hr access to do whatever they want… We are going to take every advantage available to worship and cry out in that place. Anyway, we’ll have several different worship leaders from around the city, even the mom’s that tinker on the piano, will be able to sign up for a set and just cry out before the Lord. This should allow people to come on lunch break and join in for an hour or two.

Ahem, enough rambling. We are continuing to contend for a testimony in this city. It’s a fight and it’s costly. We are being stretched and torn and strengthened and encouraged and invigorated by Love on a daily basis. It’s an intense and completely wonderful process. Continue to cry out for your city, your families and your nation. The Lord is rapidly sending a storm of righteousness!
